Jackie was a very silly dog
She was full of energy and joy
Her eyes had nothing but love
Yet she was a very mischievous dog
Pyro was a very sweet dog
He was full of affection and kisses
His eyes had nothing but love
Yet he was a very mischievous dog
Pyro and Jackie were neighbors
Jackie would come out to see Pyro every day
“Let’s go on an adventure!” she would say, wagging her tail
“I don’t know, we got in trouble last time…” Pyro would reply
“You two aren’t dogs, just a couple of chickens!” Called Sammy Squirrel from a tree above.
Sammy was a very mean Squirrel.
He was quick and clever
Taunting the dogs only to run back up his tree
“We’ll show you! Come on, Pyro”
Jackie shouted, lifting up a part of the fence between them with her nose.
Pyro wagged his tail, “OK, here I come!”
He stuffed his body through the hole and plopped out on the other side
Jackie and Pyro chased after Sammy
Sammy hopped up to the power lines and ran down the cable
“Ha Ha!, can’t get me!” he teased.
Sammy trotted over their heads towards the forest
“Drat! He got away!” Pyro pouted.
“Not so fast, I found a shortcut!” Jackie said, spinning around
She went over to a bush in the back of the yard, and moved it aside
Behind was a hole she had been digging that led under the fence and towards the forest behind them.
Pyro looked through the hole and his ears went back
“Oh I don’t know Jackie, that sure looks scary…”
Jackie went up behind and pushed him through the hole with her head
“Nuh uh, today we’re gonna get that Sammy!”
Both of the dogs squished through the hole and onto the outside of the fence.
Jackie and Pyro rolled down the hill on the other side and into the shadows of the forest
They landed in a puddle and were covered with mud from head to toe
Looking up, the dark rotten trees blocked out almost all of the sunlight from the summer day
“You might’ve been right, Pyro. Maybe this was a bad idea…” Jackie shivered
“Let’s just go back and play, I think we came down this way,” Pyro said leading the two
The two dogs wandered around for a short time
“No wait, maybe it was this way…” The dogs were lost
They came across a small river and found a frog.
“Frog, do you know how we can get back home?” Pyro asked
“Sorry, I cannot tell you. My home is here in this river,”
“I can tell you this, beware the beast of the bog!” the Frog hopped away.
“Have you heard of the beast of the bog, Jackie?” Pyro whimpered
“I’m not scared of any beast, I’m the toughest there is!”
Just then, a loud booming voice came from the forest
“PYRO! JACKIE!” the forest shook
“Let’s get out of here!” Pyro shouted
The two took off, running through the marsh.
They got covered in bruises and stickers as they rushed through the woods
Eventually they stopped, out of breath.
“You think we lost him?” Jackie said as she recovered
She looked over and Pyro wasn’t there any more
“Pyro? Where’d you go?” She called out
“JACKIE!” the loud voice called out again
Sticks cracked and leaves rustled as the bog beast approached her
“Bring it on, Bog Beast!” she growled towards the creature
Jackie crouched down, prepared to fight
Suddenly the Bog Beast disappeared into the woods
“That’s right, You better run your ugly butt back home!” She yelled, jumping up and down.
The Bog Beast approached her from behind and scooped her up into the air
“Ah! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it!”
Jackie struggled trying to escape the hold of the Bog Beast
“There you are, Jackie Girl!” a friendly voice spoke
“What are you doing out here?”
She looked up and it was her owner, now also covered in mud from following them
“Silly, girl. I thought I lost you!”
He carried her back to the yard
Pyro was already inside, barking happily to see his friend return
“Here I am Jackie! I got a free bath and everything,”
Her owner set her down back in the yard, covering up the hole she escaped from
“I’m sorry, Pyro. I shouldn’t have made you leave the yard with me,”
“It’s OK, I forgive you,”
Pyro gave her a big doggie kiss on the cheek
“You’re my best friend, I’m just happy you’re alright,”
Jackie returned shortly after, freshly showered
“Look how good I smell!” Jackie exclaimed
“Yeah and look how dumb you look!”
Sammy Squirrel was back in the tree
“Shows what you know, Sammy”
“Yeah we’ll get you!”
“Well come and get me then!”
The dogs and Sammy chased each other around the yard, what will their next adventure be?
